To combine my writing, editing and operating room skills into one profession. My target ranges from governmental to corporate to upstart agencies who require the writing and editing skills of someone with a medical background.

Surgical Technologist

• Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by choosing the proper equipment and surgical instruments. Assist the surgeons during the operations.
• Analyze and assess surgeon preference cards to update them and ensure efficient delivery of supplies and equipment for each operation.

Newspaper Reporter/Writer

• Composed and edited news and feature stories for newspapers throughout Georgia, from 1990-1998 — to include The Savannah Morning News, The Brunswick News and The Valdosta Daily Times.
• Awarded a First Place Associated Press Newswriting award during that time.
• Subsequently became a stay-at-home father for my daughter, until returning to school.
• Currently composing a memoir.

Intern

• Awarded internship in Writing & Linguistics - a course at Georgia Southern University.
• Created marketing materials for the annual Ossabaw Island Writers Retreat, as part of the internship.
• Designed and created Instagram pages and a marketing plan for the retreat.
• Participated in the retreat, a five-day writing seminar, held on Ossabaw Island, GA. Contributed my own writing projects to the writing instructors for their evaluations during the seminar.
